Those of you who don’t live in NZ/Aus/East Asia are really missing out tonight!

thinking out loud | Week 2 | hours in a police station
Footage from this week was a bit shakier and less pretty than usual, it was a stressful situation.

THINKING OUT LOUD is a new series project attempting to capture weekly visual snippets of what’s on my mind for a full year.

I should be back on schedule next Thursday with a very Sundance-centric episode!
At the end of high school I deleted a diary I’d kept a few years before. I’m glad I did, because I needed to stop dwelling on those emotions. But by doing so I know I have chosen to remember that time incorrectly.
I tell stories loosely. I am never too worried about getting the details right, so long as I convey the essence. Each time I tell a story of my past I rewrite it in my brain, just a little further from the facts. Even when I’m just telling the story to myself.
And I wonder how many things have been edited and rewritten. Lines given to people they didn’t belong to. Backstories made up to suit myself. Events reordered so they would flow better. Emotions simplified. Self justified.
If someone told me the facts now, I probably wouldn’t believe them. Brains are scary.
Please do not touch – Art Assignment
Today I went to NGV, mostly for an exhibition by Emily Floyd. She has a big focus on education and art and play, so I wanted to touch almost all of the art. And I wasn’t allowed to touch most of it. This was probably the hardest – it is literally a scaled up toy and you just want to climb on it and crawl under it…
Went to NGV with apilgrimavoyager today. This piece invited you to take part by pinning words on the ‘map’. It reminded me of theartassignment. Unfortunately I can’t figure out who the artist was, because my picture of the label was blurry… anyone else know?
